The Olympic Charter is a set of guidelines and rules for the organization for the Olympic Games, and for managing those who participate in the Olympic movement. The last time it was revised was 17th July, 2020 at the 136th IOC Session that was conducted via videoconference. It was adopted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a codification of the basic principles, rules and bylaws. French as well as English have been designated as the languages used in the Olympic Charter.

Scope

In the past, throughout the history of the Olympics The Olympic Charter has often decided the outcomes in Olympic controversy. In its introduction this Olympic Charter serves three main goals:

* to establish the principles and values of Olympism to be used as IOC law
* to clarify what rights and obligations are owed to the three major components in the Olympic movement The three main constituents of the Olympic movement are: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) as well as the International Federations and the National Olympic Committees.

The Basic Principiale of Olympism

* Olympism is a way of lifethat focuses on creating a balanced system that combines the attributes of will, body and mind. Combining culture with sport and educational pursuits, Olympism seeks to create an approach to life that is that is based on the pleasure of exertion as well as the educational value of positive example as well as social responsibility and the respect for fundamental ethical values.

* The aim for Olympism is to put sports to the benefit to promote the harmony of humanity in the hope of creating a more peaceful society that is that is concerned about the protection of the dignity of human beings.

*The Olympic Movement is the concerted organized, global and perpetual action executed under the supreme authority the IOC and all the individuals and organisations that are influenced by the principles of Olympicism. It encompasses all five continents. Its height is the gathering of world's top athletes in the grand sporting event called known as the Olympic Games. Its emblem are five rings interlaced.

* Sport is a right of every human. Every person should have the opportunity to engage in sports without discrimination of any kind , and within the Olympic spirit. This requires an understanding of each other in the spirit of solidarity, friendship and fair playing.

* Recognizing that sports take place within the social context The sports organisations of the Olympic Movement shall have the rights and obligations of autonomy which includes freely creating and regulating the rules of sports as well as making decisions about the structure and the governance of their bodies and having the right to hold elections without external influence, and having the responsibility of making sure that the principles of good governance are followed.

* The rights and freedoms outlined in the Olympic Charter shall be secured without discrimination of any kind, like race color, gender sexual orientation, gender or religion, language political or any other view social or national background, status, property or any other type of circumstances.
Being a part of the Olympic Movement requires compliance with the Olympic Charter and recognition by the IOC.
